2016 New Balance Falmouth Road Race

E-mail Print PDF

On Sunday, August 21, 2016 the 44nd Annual New Balance Falmouth Road Race  will take place with over 11,000 runners participating.

It begins in Woods Hole and spans 7 miles to Falmouth Heights.859091 10151368484213953_1562762618_o

This race is one of the showcase events in distance running and woven into the fabric of summer on Cape Cod, like Fourth of July fireworks and Labor Day weekend cookouts. The little race that could belongs to Falmouth. It was first held on a Wednesday afternoon because that was founder Tommy Leonard's birthday. It is seven miles because that was the distance from the Captain Kidd in Woods Hole to Tommy's workplace—the Brothers Four in Falmouth Heights.

Our Foundation will have a total of 12 ndividuals volunteering to run on our behalf. Each have set their goal to raise minimum of $1,000.00 each!

Let's meet the runners!

Rick Adams
"I am running the Falmouth Road race this august, in honor of my mother Jean Adams and my nephew Michael Berardi. They both died of A.L.S. a disease that attacks the part of the nervous system that controls voluntary muscle movement."

Traci Delo
"For the 2nd year in a row, I will be running the Falmouth Road Race for the A.L.S. Family Charitable Foundation . I am running in memory of my grandfather who died of ALS in 2005"

Samantha Andrews

"I will be running in honor of Matt Bruce, who passed away in March 2014 after a courageous battle with A.L.S. Matt's positive attitude and never give up mentality touched many lives. I am grateful to have had a chance to know him and honored to contribute to ALS Family Charitable Foundation in his memory."

Donna Jordan
"Nightmares do come true…my 36 year old brother, Cliff Jordan, was diagnosed with A.L.S shortly before his 34th birthday. We watched helplessly as he faced the loss of his voice.  Shortly after that, the use of his hands.  Then his legs could no longer support him.  Then complete paralysis.  Then death at the age of 36.He faced his fate with extreme courage and never complained as his body failed him and his mind stayed completely intact.  We had no hope and no help. Because of my incredible brother and the horrible things he endured, we started the A.L.S Family Charitable Foundation.  We turned our family’s nightmare into a DREAM of providing hope and compassion and are now commemorating 20 years of helping people with A.L.S. I made a promise to my brother to help others going through the same ordeal, and I will continue to honor him by running the Falmouth Road Race on Aug. 21, 2016 in an effort to raise $20,000."

Liza Bertram
"I'm running with my good friend Donna Jordan, who lost her brother Cliff to this disease many years ago, he was a young man stolen from his family in the prime of his life. She and her friend Mary Ann (Sciaba) Singersen (who lost her dad to ALS) started the ALS Family Charitable Foundation to make sure families living with this terrible disease get the help and support they so desperately need."

Thomas Kass
"
I will be running the 2016 Falmouth Road Race, in honor of my friend Matt Bruce who passed away in 2014 after a brave and courageous battle with ALS.  Matt's positive attitude and his overall love for life has forever changed the way I live my own.  I will be running to raise money for ALS Charitable Foundation which helps families that are affected by this disease as well as fund research to find a cure.  Lets find a cure to this disease!"

 Hannah Hamilton
"I will be running the Falmouth Road Race again this year for the ALS Family Charitable Foundation. They are a great organization that provides support to the families of those living with ALS. As many of you may know, Zach (my boyfriend) lost his father to this horrible disease. Please consider donating to my fundraising page and help support a wonderful organization!"
